Nothing says fun like surfing a live active volcano of course bring a lot of cash since you'll burn up a few and surf boards aren't cheap :o )

It depends on your interests. We went as a family and these are some of the things we enjoyed. The historic rail road ride, Pearl Harbor and the submarine and other things in that area (history), the Dole Pineapple Plantation (train ride, maze, souvenirs), Senator Fong's Plantation (lots of flowers and such…it was not crowded, so we ended up having a private tour), Diamond Head (if you like a nice hike & a great view go early to see the sunrise), Aloha Tower & marketplace (shopping), Iolani Palace (interesting history about the kings in Hawaii), Kawaiaha Church (made of coral and near the palace), King Kamahamaha Statue (also near the palace), Polynesian Cultural Center & Luau (we thought it was a good price for what you get, but we did not like that we were not told until after we paid that the profits go to support the Mormon college in the area), and of course driving around the island the shores and scenery are beautiful!

It's a great site! Climb Diamond head, rent a moped and drive around the beach, go on a Pub Crawl, hit the swap meet at the Aloha Stadium, check out the memorials from Pearl Harbor, LOTS to do! Enjoy!

Pick up the Oahu Saver book…you can find them everywhere…they have some good deals on Activities! Also download the 'Trip Advisor' site I gave above..
The Best way to get around is Public Transportation…Traffic on Oahu is outrageous…so I would only rent a car for a day or two to get to the other side of the Island..North Shore

    My Recommendations:
    Hike up Diamond Head
    Visit the Honolulu Zoo
Watch the lighting of the Tiki tourches in Waikiki
Shop at the swap meet at Aloha Stadium. You will find the best prices on your Hawaiian shirt and other merchandise there.
Go to the top of Aloha Tower, shop, and dine at the Aloha Tower Marketplace.
    Visit the Polynesian Cultural Center
    Tour the Dole Pineapple Plantation
Go to Sunset On the Beach for free Hawaiian entertainment and a free movie. There are food vendors there as well.
Dine and shop at the International Market.
Tour the island on the Bus. It’s one of the best ways to see the island.
