In september it may reach high 80's but it never gets to hot or too cold. There is always cooling trade winds if the weather gets too hot. I think oahu is more kid friendly. Oahu has a water park which by the time you travel will have 3 new rides. And it has horse back riding and great beaches. I think Oahu has more kid friendly activities then the other islands.
