If you want to work until your 70, then by all means spend your money. If you want to retire early, use it to get out of debt or invest for your retirement.

This is the main difference between being poor or comfortable. Spend now and work much longer. Or deny yourself something now and enjoy an earlier retirement. By then you will also see that you don't require as much "stuff" as you did when younger. It's all about choices and has always been that way.
References :
Before you read the choice, I want to assume you owe no debts.

It's simply foolish to go on vacation when you have debt.

So, if I were you, I'd still save the vacation and buy something, stay home. You can certainly go on vacation later and it'll much more enjoyable when you know you have money left. Trust me, the islands are still going to be there.

At least you're not thinking of going out drinking, xbox, gym equipment are not bad things if they entertain you and you use them often. I would definitely go for something that saves money, you'll thank yourself you did later!
References :
hmmmm....let's trash both ideas and spend it on me! I guarantee you'd have a better time :)

awww, ok, here is my true input since no one is responding.
I'd go on vacation, for sure. The gym will be garbage in a few years, and so will the xbox. Your travel experiences last a lifetime :)

but, on the real, I'd be willing to compromise and travel with you at your expense to say, Mexico? You could easily afford both of us :)
