Most of the folks who get those roles are brought in from Hollywood. There is some call for people to do commercials, but often those jobs will go to folks who look "local". I'm thinking it's not going to be easy. As far as jobs in the restaurant industry, there are lots of them available, & with tips you can make pretty good money.
