Let’s Dance in HD by Jake Shimabukuro @ 2009 Honolulu Symphony Fair

Recorded in high definition at the Honolulu Symphony Fair.

“Let’s Dance” by Jake Shimabukuro

Saturday, May 23, 2009
Waikiki Shell
Honolulu, Hawaii on the island of Oahu

Excerpts from the Honolulu Advertiser:
“This festival is all about the family and giving people of all ages a chance to know the symphony better. More than 20 musical performing groups from all over Oahu have volunteered to perform. Other attractions include a musical instrument “petting zoo” hosted by the Honolulu Symphony musicians, food concession stands, face painting and sign painting. There will even be autograph sessions with … ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro.”

We went to listen to and support Moanalua High School’s String Ensemble. Unfortunately, they were placed in an area close to the “petting zoo”, the Symphony’s lower brass group, concession stand, entrance,…. you get the picture. Although they were as awesome as usual, my audio caught more of all the other events. So I’m sad to say that I will not be posting any of it.

However, I was fortunate enough to get great vids of Jake Shimabukuro who performed on Stage C. I was really unprepared for this so all of the Jake vids were hand held shots. I’ll be posting all of them and, if you weren’t there, you missed some great music, a great performer and a surprise guest performer!

And to echo what Jake said, music and the arts are so vital. Let’s make sure that they forever will be in our schools and community! If not, they won’t exist in our homes. Music Forever!
